What is GTI?
Giving Tree International (GTI) is a 501(c)3 non-profit, non-religious organization dedicated to develop and promote a holistic community in both developed and developing countries throughout the world by providing charitable services for the underprivileged and equipping them in the areas of education, counseling, entrepreneurship, arts, health, faith, and social welfare. Some specific services that GTI provides are:
- Career and skill development
- Educational support tutoring
- Peer and support counseling
- Entrepreneurial development
- Leadership development
GTI believes that the most effective way to building a community is through the transformation of individuals one at a time, and therefore its services are primarily focused on equipping people emotionally, academically, and professionally. In addition to providing these charitable services, GTI oversees for-profit companies whose mission is aligned with that of GTI. These companies operate in various countries to provide value-added services to the locals in respective countries. They are directly engaged in impacting economical and social aspects of the countries. They create jobs and employment and training opportunities for locals, helping increase their standard of living. Communities in which the companies operate benefit from their financial contributions to non-profit organizations and those who may be in financial need. Those who have been trained in the companies, in turn, are often at the forefront leading the ways to solving detrimental social problems, such as poverty and crime. Transformation started with individuals has ripple effects on their communities and ultimately their nation. GTI leads the transformation by creating holistic communities throughout the world.
